Comparison of Data from Rain Gauges and the IMERG Product to Analyse Precipitation in Mountain Areas of Central Italy

In central Italy, particularly in the Umbria-Marche Apennines, there are some complete, high-altitude weather stations, which very important for assessing climate these areas. The mountain stations considered this study were Monte Bove Sud (1917 m.a.s.l.), Prata (1816 m.a.s.l.) and Pintura di Bolognola (1360 m.a.s.l.). aim of research was to compare differences between precipitation measured by rain gauges data obtained satellite using IMERG algorithm, at same locations. evaluation possible errors estimation one method or other is fundamental obtaining a reliable estimate environments. results revealed strong underestimation higher altitudes (Monte Prata) compared pixel sampled satellite. On hand, lower altitudes, better correlation gauge value product value. This research, although localised well-defined locations, could help assess problems detection through stations.
